| A Farmer's Life for the Farmer's Wife |
| Twenty-four years ago, in a land so far away that it doesn't quite exist in any kind of realistic terms, the young, exceptionally well-bred Martha Clark fulfilled her father's dreams and graduated at the top of her class from Metropolis University. Shortly thereafter his dreams were shattered when she took her wasted degree and moved to the tiny farming town of Smallville to marry one Jonathan Kent. Although it was difficult at first, Martha soon shed her Metropolis lifestyle and became accustomed to life as a farmer's wife. At some point during this process, Jonathan and Martha Kent tried and failed, again and again, to have children of their own. When a cute little alien kid literally fell from the sky several years into their marriage, the Kents found their dream, and ultimate destiny, realized. Well, sort of. Since Clark's arrival, Martha has taken many forms. Wife, mother, muffin maker extraordinare. She has worked as Lionel Luthor's executive assistant, to the chagrin of her husband and son, managed the Talon coffee house in town, taken over her husband's position as Kansas State Senator and moved on to become a U.S. Senator. Quite a progression, some might say. Original!verse is vaguely Season Four-ish of Smallville, but she has full knowledge of just about everything else that's happened since. Jonathan is still alive, she's recently worked as Senator Kelly's ( ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} mutantwatch) campaign manager. In January, her daughter Grace was born. She is now running the new SAJ Wayside House in Metropolis. DC!verse This verse is current through actual show canon, where Martha is a U.S. Senator for Kansas in Washington (the other being Senator Kelly). She's been a widow for about two and a half years and therefore is single, though she hasn't been with anyone since her husband's death and is trying to get back up on that dating horse, but naturally she's pretty terrible at it. Aftershocks Verse In this verse, it is twelve years after Jonathan's death (age is kind of relative though, so she's the same age she is in all other verses). Martha spent one full term in the Senate, and the remainder of the term she stepped into. She is now living with Perry White ( to_littleville), who is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet, in Metropolis and has been for about eight years. Her daughter, Grace (givemeclouds), is finishing up her freshman year at Met U, and her son Clark (imthehalibut) is a reporter for The Daily Planet. Her best friend is still Lois Lane (ms_lois_lane10) and her relationship with her ex-lover Lionel Luthor (hell_of_heaven) is a bit rocky.Other Martha and her mun will also happily roll with the punches in interacting with Smallville muses who are not involved in any of her current verses. |
